Episode 3: Nik Matheou - Democratic Confederalism
Show Notes

In this episode, we speak to Nik Matheou solidarity organiser and activists with the Kurdish liberation movement, about the political philosophy developed by Abdullah Ocalan - Democratic Confederalism.

Developed in part whilst Ocalan is subjected to the brutal and extreme isolation of Imrali prison Island, Democratic Confederalism is a radical form of grassroots democracy that represents a departure from the emphasis on statehood many liberation movements include.

In this episode Nik explains;

✊The roots of the ideology and its role in the radical legacy of 1968.

♀️The inspirational role women have played in developing and building this political system.

🤝How this system works in practice in Turkey and the Autonomous Administration of North & East Syria or Rojava.
